We regularly receive questions about Carrera's Hybrid system. To better explain it, we've created this blog page for you. In 2024, Carrera launched the new Hybrid in the German and Austrian markets, and in 2025, it was rolled out to other European countries.

Carrera calls Hybrid the next step in the evolution of home racing. Hybrid brings gaming and racing together. While the cars on the existing First, Go!!!, Evolution, Digital 132, and Digital 124 platforms run on a track, this is no longer the case with Hybrid. The cars are wireless and can drive on and off the track. So you can go "off-track" in your race.

Hybrid App

To get the most out of Hybrid, you'll need the free app. It's available for iOS (from 15.8.3) and Android (12). The app's design is based on the cockpits of real race cars. You can choose between beginner and expert modes, making Hybrid accessible to all ages.

The app also utilizes AI support. You control the cars by tilting your smartphone or tablet as if you were steering. The buttons on the display represent the accelerator and brake pedals. While racing, the app also produces authentic racing sounds, creating an even more realistic experience.

How do I get started with Hybrid?

To get started, you need a starter set, for example, Devil Drivers 50050002. The set contains a complete track and two cars. You can then expand your track with the Expansion Sets, additional cars, and cool accessories.

You can choose free play, which allows you to race with up to 30 drivers simultaneously. You can also choose a race session, which allows you to race with up to 16 players simultaneously. The cars are made to a scale of 1:50 (the same as those of Carrera First). Their top speed is 1.8 m/s. The cars contain a powerful lithium battery that allows for 30 minutes of racing on a full charge. A full charge takes 20 minutes and is done with the included USB-C cable.
